Your dog follows you from room to room. Curls up next to your laptop while you work. Sleeps on the bed beside you, inches from your phone charging on the nightstand. Your cat naps on the warm router, stretched out on the one spot in the house that's constantly warm, and constantly transmitting.
They don't know what WiFi is. They don't know what a 5G tower is. They have no concept of electromagnetic radiation.
And they can't tell you when something is wrong.
That silence isn't innocence. It's a vulnerability.
EMF Exposure in Pets: The Home Environment Has Changed
Think about the average home in 2025. A WiFi router running 24/7. Multiple smartphones. Smart TVs. Laptops. Wireless speakers. Baby monitors. Smart home devices. Possibly a 5G signal coming through the walls from a nearby tower.
Now think about your pet's relationship to that environment.
They don't step away from their phone. They don't leave the WiFi zone for fresh air. They don't put down the laptop after a few hours. They live in that space continuously - sleeping, eating, playing, resting, often right next to the very devices emitting the most radiation.
You get to manage your exposure. They don't.
What Science Says About EMF Radiation and Pet Health
Research into EMF and pets is still growing, but what already exists in the peer-reviewed literature is worth paying close attention to.
Dogs and Magnetic Fields: Their Bodies Are Literally Affected
A 2025 study published in the journal Animals by researchers at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague examined what happens to dogs' behavior and orientation when they are exposed to the magnetic fields generated by high-voltage power lines.
The findings were striking. Under normal conditions, dogs naturally align their bodies along the Earth's magnetic axis - a well-documented behavior linked to their magnetoreception, the biological ability to sense magnetic fields. When researchers studied 36 dogs near high-voltage power lines, that natural alignment pattern was measurably disrupted. The dogs' orientation shifted in ways that directly corresponded to the direction of the power line's magnetic field.
What does this tell us? Dogs don't just live alongside electromagnetic fields, they physically respond to them. Their nervous systems register these fields. Their behavior changes because of them. This is not theoretical. It is documented, peer-reviewed science published just months ago.
Can EMF Radiation Harm Dogs? The Lymphoma Link
Another study which is older but arguably even more sobering.
In 1995, researchers at Colorado State University published a landmark case-control study in the American Journal of Epidemiology. They examined 93 dogs diagnosed with lymphoma and 137 healthy controls, looking specifically at the magnetic field exposure levels at the dogs' homes.
The results showed a statistically significant association: dogs living in homes with higher magnetic field exposure had elevated risk of developing lymphoma. For dogs living in homes with the very highest measured magnetic field levels, the odds ratio reached 6.8 - meaning those dogs were nearly seven times more likely to develop lymphoma compared to dogs in low-exposure homes. The researchers also found that dogs spending more than 25% of their day outdoors near high-field areas showed increased risk.
The study's authors concluded by recommending dogs as an animal model for further research into the health effects of magnetic fields in humans.
The Part Nobody Talks About
Here's what makes this conversation so uncomfortable: the same radiation environment your pet lives in 24 hours a day is one that researchers have been raising concerns about for humans too.
In 2011, the World Health Organization classified radiofrequency electromagnetic fields as a "possible human carcinogen." In January 2026, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services launched a federal investigation into electromagnetic radiation's health effects, and the FDA removed its long-standing webpages claiming cellphone radiation poses no health risks. HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. publicly stated: "Electromagnetic radiation is a major health concern."
This conversation - long dismissed as fringe - has moved into the center of mainstream science and government policy.
Now, to be clear: we're not saying that what is concerning for humans is automatically the same for dogs or cats. Animals are different organisms. The biological research specifically focused on pets and household EMF exposure is still very limited - and that gap itself tells a story.
Because here's the uncomfortable truth: pets simply haven't been a research priority. Studies cost money and take years. Funding goes where the human health burden is. That's understandable. But it also means our pets have been sharing our WiFi-saturated, device-filled homes without anyone formally asking what that means for them.
And we don't think that's good enough.
You don't wait years for a study to buckle your child's seatbelt. You don't need a clinical trial to tell you to keep your toddler away from something potentially harmful. When science raises a question - and here, it clearly does - the responsible answer isn't to wait for certainty. It's to ask: why risk it?
Your pet has been living in that radiation environment the entire time. Without a say. Without protection. Without even the ability to tell you how they feel.
They Cannot Speak. We Can Choose To Listen
This is what moves us most about this issue.
When you feel a persistent headache after hours on your phone, you notice it. You might put the phone down. When you feel restless and can't sleep, you start wondering why. When you feel drained after a long day of screen time, you can connect the dots.
Your pet can't.
They experience whatever they experience and they come back to you anyway - wagging, purring, trusting. That's the nature of the bond we have with them. And that bond, we believe, comes with responsibility.
We think about EMF protection for ourselves. For our children. But our pets share our homes just as intimately, and they've largely been left out of the conversation.
Something Is Coming
At Bodywell®, we've spent years developing science-backed technology to reduce the biological effects of EMF radiation on the human body. Our products are tested, certified, and built on real science - not vague promises.
And now, for the first time, we're extending that mission to the animals who share our lives.
If you know our mission - protecting the people you love from the invisible risks of a wireless world - then you can probably guess where we're headed next.
We'll be sharing more very soon.
